Abstract | Diabetic Retinopathy is one of the medical conditions that a person suffering from Diabetes Mellitus may encounter. One of the major symptoms of this disorder is the presence of exudates in the retinal area of the eyes. In order to prevent blindness due to exudates, it becomes mandatory to cure them, and prevent their further accumulation. In recent years, research to automate diagnosis of this disease to assist the doctors for faster treatments is gaining importance. This paper reveals one such approach of extracting exudates from fundus images. The algorithm has been developed on MATLAB using Image Processing Toolbox. An accuracy of 81.6% was obtained for the novel approach explored in this paper. © 2019 IEEE. |
