Abstract | Objective of the study- To determine the positive response of the lumbopelvic manipulation and patellofemoral mobilization on pain and function for patient with anterior knee pain . Background – Anterior knee pain was recently shown to improvement following treatment with Lumbopelvic manipulation. Patellar mobilization is a good treatment potion for Anterior knee pain. No previous study was done to compare both the treatment technique. Method and Measure – 30 patients (15 male, 15 female; age range 19-50yrs) with anterior knee pain underwent a standardized history and physical examination. After the evaluation each subject rated on LKS and then each subject performed 3 pain producing functional activities (squatting, stepping up 20 cm step and stepping down a 20 cm step) . The pain level perceived during each activity was rated on Numeric Pain Rating Scale. Following the assessment, all subjects were assigned in to two groups. Group A treated with Patellar mobilization and Group B with LPM for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks patients were again rated on NPRS and LKS. Results- Data for 30 patients were included in the data analysis. Between group analysis shows significance (P<0.05) improvement in NPRS in both the group. Where as LKS was (P>0.05) not significant improved in both the groups. Conclusion-Study concludes that LPM produces greater improvement in AKP patients then Patellar mobilization in terms of pain and function. But both the treatment group did not show a great improvement in function (LKS) in patients with AKP. |
