Abstract

Two new methods are designed for the simultaneous determination of Alogliptin(ALG) and Metformin (MTF). The two chemometric assisted spectrophotometric methods are principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS). Spectra of Alogliptin and Metformin were recorded at several concentrations within their linear range and the readings so obtained were used to compute the calibration mixture between wavelengths 200 and 400 nm at an interval of 1 nm in methanol. The two methods were successfully applied to quantify each individual drug in the mixture by using the absorption spectra of appropriate solutions. The analytical responses of these chemometric methods were characterized by relative prediction errors and recoveries (%) and were compared with each other. The two methods were found to be satisfactory and successfully applied to a pharmaceutical dosage form and the results were compared.
