Abstract | The mighty river’s tributaries are cool, Himalayan-glacier led springs. But where the river meets Indian subcontinent’s highly populated cities and pours out into Bay of Bengal, the water goes from crystal clear to trashand sewage-infested sludge. Nearly 70 % of river in India is polluted. The pollution situation in India is worse than that of some of the industrialized countries of Europe and America. River pollution is increasing in India due to the wastes being deposited from industries, dumping of human bodies and disposal of plastic objects, solid wastes, agricultural wastes, chemical fertilizers and pesticides. River pollution will cause death of aquatic animals, disruption of food chains, human diseases and destructs the ecosystem. Water pollution is one of the leading causes of death and diseases around the world and accounts for 14000 deaths every year. In India, around 580 people die due to water pollution related diseases everyday. It also leads to global warming. Hence our team decided to solve this problem of river pollution by designing a River Cleaning Robot. The Robot will pick up the floating wastes from the water through the conveyor, store the wastes in the bin which it will carry and will finally dump the waste. The Robot is made up of sun board material which is very light material and will make the Robot to float in water. The processor which we have used is nodemcu to control the robot. The user can control the Robot’s movement and other operations such as waste collection, storage and dumping, through the app. Thus this project is a small initiative from our team to make the river’s clean by collecting the floating wastes. Our main motive is to secure and safeguard the polluted rivers and convert them into clean and fresh rivers which can be reused for household purposes and agriculture. |
